# Roles at a glance

> Which LedgerTime screens each role can use.

Your role controls the left sidebar. Ask an org admin if you need a different role.

| Role            | Typical job                    | Main screens                                                             |

| **Consultant**  | Enter and submit time          | Dashboard, My Timesheets                                                 |
| **Approver**    | Review others' weeks           | + Approval Inbox                                                         |

| **Org Admin**   | Run the firm in LedgerTime     | + Clients, Projects, Team, Organization, OCR Learning, Integrations, ADP |

## Important permission notes

<Warning>
  Creating, sending, voiding, and marking invoices paid requires **Org Admin** on the API today — even if your UI role is Finance. Use Org Admin for billing actions until a dedicated finance permission ships.
</Warning>

* Approvers **cannot approve their own** submitted timesheets.
* Team invites from **Team** can assign **Consultant**, **Approver**, or **Org Admin** (not Finance or Super Admin).
